The Problem

Most competitive intelligence in product organizations works like this: once a quarter, someone assembles a deck. They screenshot competitor websites, pull press releases, and summarize feature announcements. The deck gets presented in a strategy meeting. Everyone nods. It goes into a shared drive. No one looks at it again until next quarter.

By then, the intelligence is stale. Competitors ship weekly. Markets shift monthly. A quarterly deck captures a snapshot of a landscape that has already changed. How This Prompt Works

This prompt helps you design an AI-assisted competitive intelligence dashboard that monitors competitors continuously and delivers actionable intelligence to your team in real time.

The dashboard architecture has three layers:

  • Signal Collection: Define your competitor set and the signals that matter: product launches, pricing changes, job postings (which reveal strategic direction), blog content, App Store updates, social media messaging, and funding announcements. The AI monitors these sources automatically.
  • Intelligence Filtering: Not every signal is actionable. The AI categorizes signals by type (feature, pricing, positioning, hiring, funding) and scores them by relevance to your product strategy. High-relevance signals get pushed. Low-relevance signals get logged.
  • Context Enrichment: Raw signals are augmented with strategic context. A competitor feature launch is paired with analysis of what market segment it targets, how it compares to your roadmap, and what response options exist.

  • Collecting signals without distributing them: A dashboard that only the PM checks is just a personal hobby. Integrate intelligence into the channels where decisions happen: Slack, sprint planning, sales enablement materials.
  • Reacting to everything: Not every competitive move requires a response. The dashboard should inform strategy, not dictate it. Build a triage framework: respond, monitor, or ignore.
