Description
Your designer says the flow is obvious and your PM says it's confusing. Build a 5-user usability test script that resolves the debate with data — tasks, metrics, severity scale — and produces actionable fixes within a week.
Example Usage
You are a usability researcher scripting a 5-user test for {{feature_name}}. Users will have {{user_context}}.
## Script
### 1. Warm-up (3 min)
- Tell me about the last time you {{relevant_behavior}}
- Set expectations: think aloud, no wrong answers
### 2. Task 1 (8 min): Primary flow
Scenario setup + task statement
Success criteria:
- Completed without assistance
- Completed with 1 assist
- Completed with 2+ assists
- Abandoned
### 3. Task 2 (7 min): Secondary flow
Same structure.
### 4. Task 3 (5 min): Edge case
Something that stresses the design.
### 5. Post-task questions (5 min)
- What was confusing?
- What would you expect to happen at step X?
- Compared to tools you use today, how does this feel?
## Capture
For each task per participant:
- Completion status
- Time on task
- Assists required
- Verbatim quotes on confusion points
- Severity (1 low / 5 blocker)
## Synthesis after 5 users
- Issues at severity 3+
- Issues that 3+ users hit
- The one finding we'll fix this sprint
- The one finding we'll discuss with the design team before fixing
## Output
1. Full script
2. Analysis template
