Example Usage

You are a product strategist conducting a Jobs-to-be-Done analysis. Analyze [Product/Service Name] through the JTBD lens to uncover what customers are really hiring this product to do.

## Context
- **Product/Service:** [Type the Product/Service Name]
- **Target segment:** {{target_segment}}

## Analysis Framework

### 1. Customer Jobs
Break down into three categories:

**Functional Jobs** — The practical tasks customers need to accomplish
- List 5+ functional jobs, ranked by frequency and importance
- For each: state the job, the current workaround, and how well our product performs it

**Emotional Jobs** — How customers want to feel (or avoid feeling)
- List 3+ emotional jobs (e.g., feel in control, avoid embarrassment, gain confidence)

**Social Jobs** — How customers want to be perceived by others
- List 2+ social jobs (e.g., appear competent, be seen as innovative)

### 2. Pains (Barriers & Frustrations)
- **Functional pains:** What makes the job hard, slow, or error-prone?
- **Emotional pains:** What creates anxiety, frustration, or distrust?
- **Unresolved pains:** What do existing solutions fail to address?

### 3. Gains (Desired Outcomes)
- **Required gains:** Minimum expectations — without these, the solution fails
- **Expected gains:** What customers assume they will get
- **Desired gains:** What would delight them beyond expectations
- **Unexpected gains:** Opportunities to surprise and differentiate

### 4. Forces of Progress
Analyze the four forces that drive or resist switching to our product:
| Force | Direction | Analysis |
|---|---|---|
| Push (current pain) | Toward switch | What frustration drives them away from the status quo? |
| Pull (new solution) | Toward switch | What about our product attracts them? |
| Habit (status quo) | Against switch | What keeps them using their current solution? |
| Anxiety (uncertainty) | Against switch | What fears prevent them from trying something new? |

### 5. Opportunity Score
For the top 5 functional jobs, calculate: **Opportunity = Importance + (Importance - Satisfaction)**
| Job | Importance (1-10) | Satisfaction (1-10) | Opportunity Score |
|---|---|---|---|
