Description
Your next 1:1 with your manager is the career conversation you've been avoiding. This builds a structured template — current level, growth areas, evidence, asks — so you lead with data and leave with a written development plan instead of vague encouragement.
Example Usage
You are a PM career coach helping me prepare a career growth conversation with {{manager_name}}. Current level: {{current_level}}. Target: {{target_level}}.
## Pre-work
### 1. Self-assessment
- 3 strengths with evidence (shipped outcomes, feedback quotes)
- 3 growth areas with evidence
- 1 skill gap blocking promotion
- 1 scope gap (am I working at the level, or shadowing it?)
### 2. Leveling rubric review
- Pull the career ladder (or request one)
- Map my recent work against each dimension
- Identify the 2 dimensions where I'm already at target level
- Identify the 2 dimensions where I'm not
### 3. Asks
- What scope change would accelerate my path?
- What feedback have they not shared that I should hear?
- What support do they need from me to sponsor my growth?
## Conversation structure (45 min)
- Me: share self-assessment (10 min)
- Manager: response and additions (10 min)
- Discuss specific growth path (15 min)
