Description

Your pricing hasn't been revisited in over a year, or you're launching a major feature and wondering whether to gate it behind a higher tier. This walks you through a structured audit of your current pricing model, identifies packaging gaps, and generates specific recommendations.

Example Usage

Audit the pricing and packaging strategy for {{product_name}} and recommend improvements.

## Current State
- Product: {{product_name}}
- Current pricing model: {{pricing_model}} (e.g., freemium, usage-based, per-seat, flat-rate)
- Current tiers: {{tier_names_and_prices}}
- Target customer segments: {{target_segments}}
- Key competitors and their pricing: {{competitor_pricing}}
- Last pricing change: {{last_pricing_change_date}}

## Step 1: Value Metric Analysis
1. What is the core unit of value your customers pay for? (seats, usage, features, outcomes)
2. Does your current pricing scale with the value customers receive?
3. List the top 5 features by customer usage — which tier are they in?
4. Identify any "reverse packaging" problems (high-value features in low tiers)

## Step 2: Segmentation Fit
For each customer segment:
- What's their willingness to pay?
- What features do they need vs. what tier are they on?
- Where is the upgrade friction highest?
- What would make them feel they're getting a "steal"?

## Step 3: Competitive Positioning
1. Map your pricing against 3-5 competitors on a 2x2 (price vs. feature depth)
2. Identify where you're overpriced relative to perceived value
3. Identify where you're leaving money on the table

## Step 4: Recommendations
- Propose a revised tier structure with specific prices
- Recommend 1-2 packaging experiments to run in the next quarter
- Suggest a pricing communication strategy for existing customers
- Estimate revenue impact of proposed changes
